In a move to advance our technological capabilities and market presence, we proudly announce the successful acquisition of NKT Photonics in June 2024. This acquisition represents a strategic integration of two leaders in the industry, each bringing unique and complementary strengths to the table.
Established in Denmark by scientists and engineers, NKT Photonics is built on a foundation of passion for crystal fibers. As the world's premier supplier of high-performance fiber lasers and photonic crystal fibers, NKT Photonics aims to continually innovate and expand the possibilities of photonic crystal fiber and laser technology. Their products are critical for applications ranging from bio-imaging to semiconductor metrology.
This acquisition arrives at a strategic time, following the establishment of Hamamatsu's Laser Product Division less than a decade ago. By integrating NKT’s unique fiber laser technology with Hamamatsu’s renowned photodetectors and light sources, we complete our technological capabilities. This combination will drive innovation in product development and customer solutions, enhancing the capabilities of both companies.
The acquisition aims to accelerate advancements in quantum computing, semiconductor manufacturing, and hyperspectral imaging, providing tailored solutions that meet the complex needs of these high-growth markets (read the article). Together, Hamamatsu and NKT will deliver innovative system solutions that promise to shape the future of photonics technology.
“We are thrilled to welcome NKT Photonics into the Hamamatsu family. This acquisition marks a key milestone for our company. By combining our strengths, we are positioned to drive innovation to meet the needs of our customers and push the boundaries of what is possible." Max Skoglund, Managing Director, Hamamatsu Photonics Europe.
